Karen Hild, LPC, Therapist

Karen Hild is a Licensed Professional Counselor seeing clients in the Lombard area.

My name is Karen Hild and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, but you can also call me a “Compassionate Supporter.”

“Sometimes what you’re most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free.”

– Robert Tew

I enjoy helping those who want to better understand themselves, learn about change and acceptance, and are comfortable with the uncomfortable. Maybe you find that you hold yourself back due to fear, lack of support, lack of direction, or uncertainty of the process. I encourage my clients to allow vulnerability as we venture through their insightful thoughts and emotions. This leads to a better understanding of themselves and what might be a roadblock, preventing them from moving forward.

I know from my personal experiences that there are many tools needed in order to move forward, but the most important thing is a strong, supportive, empathic, and reliable system. Without that, one cannot progress. Life can be messy, chaotic, and sometimes overall difficult. Still, life can also be full of joy, happiness, and be downright fun! Perfection is overrated.

My place in your journey is not in front telling you where you should go, nor behind leaving you alone to face the darkness, but beside you encouraging and supporting you down the path. You set the pace and we walk together!

I believe that with positivity, honesty, and empathy, our goals can be achieved. There may be situations or events in your life that you and I have both shared and there may be some that we haven’t. Nevertheless, no matter the topic, my compassion, support, and validation will not vary in strength.

In my sessions I utilize techniques and interventions from strength based approaches with clients such as ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Mindfulness and Client Centered Therapy.

I have experience with clients with Mood Disorders, People recovering from Addictions, Family Members of people recovering from Addictions, Anxiety, Effects of Stress, Transitional Issues, and Women’s Issues.
