Clinical, to make it Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Recovery Skills Coach, seeing clients in the Chicago-Lakeview, Lombard and and Arizona (coming soon) locations.
My name is Colleen, and I am a clinical therapist at Bricolage Wellness.
You can also think of me as an empathic supporter, emotion management coach, and a fierce advocate for personal growth.
I help adults who crave something more than their day-to-day experience, but feel they don’t have the tools or direction to make lasting change. My goal is to guide them through the complex ebbs and flows of adulthood and help navigate the process of creating a life they want to be present in. I support them in working towards living their best life by providing a safe, nonjudgmental space. They can explore what life may look like.
With my experience treating adults and more importantly, my own journey of finding purpose after having no sense of direction, that it can be difficult to know where to start. I too had to take the steps to develop an experience that is fulfilling and rewarding. There can be a balance of identifying areas where you want to see growth, while appreciating what you are already doing well. I’d like to help you begin that journey to wellness.
Together we will work on skills so you can exist in the present moment, have awareness of unhelpful thoughts, manage uncomfortable emotions, and make time for the things you value most that will bring you joy. My clients appreciate my willingness to be straight forward and my ability to be authentic. They feel at ease knowing I can relate to their challenges while offering skills to manage each situation. I strive to meet my clients where they’re at and always respond to challenges with compassion and acceptance.
With insight and self-compassion, there is capability of doing so much more than simply existing.
My experience includes working with individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, eating disorders and disordered eating, body image, self-harm, addiction, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, relational issues, self-esteem, life transitions, and the unique stressors and challenges within the LGBTQIA+ community.
I utilize a combination of approaches to meet the individual needs of each client. These approaches can include Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy with Behavioral Activation, Radical Openness Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, all with a foundation of mindfulness. For those who struggle with intense anxiety, working as a team, we may use exposure work, which includes creating a scale and designing challenges to help face the source and better manage the distress.
